Magnetic localization of breast lesions: a large-scale European evaluation in a National Cancer Institute.

IntroductionFor decades the standard for preoperative breast lesions’ localization has been wire localization. In recent years options non-wired have significantly expanded and include radioactive seeds, radar reflectors, radiofrequency identification tags magnetic seeds. The aim of our study is to evaluate on a large scale performance pre-operative seed non-palpable lesions.Material MethodsWe prospectively collected data all patients undergoing image-guided from September 2019 December 2022. We analyzed imaging findings, histological results, type surgery. primary outcome was successful rate. Secondary outcomes were placement rate, ease percutaneous positioning, procedural complications, reintervention rate.ResultsA total 1123 seeds placed in 1084 by four radiologists under ultrasound (1053) or stereotactic (70) guidance. All detectable transcutaneously breasts sizes at depths seven surgeons with success rate 100%. 97,5% correctly into target lesions (only 2,5% dislocated). shown good compliance during procedure, there no complications safety issues. re-operation 5,1 %.ConclusionsImage-guided an easy, safe, reliable, effective method localizing lesions.
